Friendship

I find it amusing how one person feels that they can break you down and make you feel about 2 feet tall. When in reality their words have not phased me at all. In the end I got exactly what I wanted and you were left with nothing... hmph how's that for making someone feel two feet small?

I am a firm believer of letting people go when their time in your life has passed. For whatever reason we tend to hold on to friendships from the past that are really doing nothing for us. There is the memory of what that friendship once was, but the feeling when you see or speak to that person is no longer the same. The connection has faded and you are no longer BFF's you are no longer so in sync you can imagine what words are going to come out of the other persons mouth. You have grown apart.

I feel a lot of people are not strong enough to let go of the relationship and appreciate it for what it once was. They hold on to it for so long and allow their fear of losing it to ultimately ruin what relationship they had left, and by doing so they ruin the good memories they once had.

Over the past two years in my move to New York I have changed. I am not the same girl I once was. I do not have all the same interests and to be honest I do not want all the same people in my life. There are always those staples. Those friend "staples" that you know will never leave your side because they have been there with you through thick and thin, old and new. They are not just your friends, they are your family.

I am blessed to have several of these friends. These people who have kept me sane over the years and who have always been there when the other friends have come and gone.

So goodbye to the friends who were there for me when I needed them and left my life when it was their time. I appreciate what friendship we had and no matter how our friendship ended I hold no grudges.
