For those of you who have worked retail you will understand. The pressure of a corporate visit is pretty much terrifying. Even if your DM was coming to town it was something to be talked about. But here... in NYC everything is different! A corporate visit isn't just from the DM, you have the president of the company walking through your door, regional president, operations managers, marketing managers, every single person is coming in your store to tell you what you are doing wrong. If one paper is out of place that's why you're not selling as much as you should be. Anything that is incorrect is a sign of failure. Stores are not meant to be "shopped" they are meant to look like unattainable perfection; and that unattainable perfection is meant to bring customers in who want to spend $$$$. It's all a very vicious cycle. This being said I have one of those visits coming up tomorrow.
Now don't get me wrong, I stress, I freak myself out, but I actually perform very well under pressure, amazing I know. (how do you think I made it through college waiting until the last minute?) Anyway today was just one of those days that had me a little irritated at work. It was a long day (as always) and I couldn't wait to get home.. and in bed.
Bringing me to my point. I am so lucky and appreciative that I have a boy who I can text and call when I am having a bad day at work, a panic attack, who listens to me when I think the bump I found on my hip is cancer..... and always knows what to say to make me smile. I was on the bus on my way to his house and we were texting and I told him how stressed I was and frustrated and his response "I can imagine" now this may not seem like anything huge. You're probably wondering how something like that could actually make me smile; however it's because I know him. I know what he is going to say to almost every text I send him, and about two seconds before I received this text I predicted that response. And just knowing him made me smile. I am now lucky enough to be sitting on his bed getting ready to watch a movie. So I just wanted to take this moment to thank him for helping calm down when I am freaking out due to my irrational stress. So thanks Brad for being such a great guy and making me feel like tomorrow will be a better day.
